Common problems
Quick fixes for the problems people hit most with Saksi, from missing messages and missing photos to alerts that do not pop up.

Each problem below has the most likely causes first.
Saksi saved nothing at all
Why: Notification Access is off, or capture is paused.
Fix:
- If the Timeline shows Fix setup, tap it and turn Saksi on in Notification Access.
- If you used Delete all data, tap Resume capture on the Timeline.
- Check Settings > Capture & Apps > App Filter and make sure the app is on.
Saksi stopped saving after a while
Why: Android or a battery saver stopped Saksi in the background, or Notification Access was turned off.
Fix: Follow Saksi stopped saving.
A message is missing
Why: Saksi can only save notifications Android shows. Common reasons there was none:
- The chat was open on screen when the message arrived.
- The chat or the whole app is muted.
- The app's notifications are off, or their content is hidden.
- The app is off in App Filter.
Fix: Keep notifications on for chats you care about, and check App Filter. Saksi cannot add messages that were never shown as a notification.
The text says Content unavailable
Why: Android or the source app hid some notification content, for example on the lock screen. Saksi cannot recover hidden text.
Fix: Allow notification content in your phone's notification settings and in the app's own settings. Available messages continue to be saved.
A photo or file was not saved
Why: The notification described the file but did not provide a readable copy. This is common with WhatsApp and Telegram.
Fix: Tap Import a file in Media to save your own copy. See Photos and files.
Alerts do not pop up
Why: Alerts are normal Android notifications. A quiet channel, blocked notifications or Do Not Disturb can keep them silent.
Fix:
- Open Settings > Message alerts and read the status for each alert type.
- Tap Send test notification and check the notification shade.
- Tap Make possible alerts prominent and choose Alerting in Android.
- Allow Saksi through Do Not Disturb, or turn it off.
Every eligible event is still in the Alerts inbox (bell icon on the Timeline). See Allow Saksi alerts.
A message shows Possible deletion but it is still there
Why: Possible deletion means the message is no longer in the notification. It is not confirmed. The sender may not have deleted anything.
Fix: Nothing to fix. Treat the label as a hint, not proof. See Deleted and disappeared notifications.
Old messages are gone
Why: The free archive keeps the last 7 days. Older history is removed automatically and cannot be brought back.
Fix: Share a receipt of anything you want to keep. See How long history is kept.
The app is in the wrong language
Fix: Open Settings > Language & Appearance, tap the language button and pick a language. The same screen sets System theme, Light or Dark.
