Battery restrictions

Some phones stop apps in the background to save battery. Set Saksi to Unrestricted so it keeps saving notifications.

Some phones stop apps in the background to save battery. If Saksi stops saving notifications, this is one of the first things to check.

Set battery use to Unrestricted

  1. Open your phone's Settings.
  2. Go to Apps and select Saksi.
  3. Open Battery (sometimes Battery usage or App battery usage).
  4. Choose Unrestricted. Some phones say Always allow or No restrictions.
  5. If you see Allow background activity or Allow background usage, turn it on.

Wording varies by phone. See Phone brands and settings for general hints.

Why this is a manual step

Saksi's setup screen has an Open Battery Settings button, but setup closes as soon as Notification Access is on. After that, use your phone's Settings as described above.

Other things that can stop Saksi

  • Do not lock, freeze or "deep sleep" Saksi in your phone's battery or phone manager app.
  • Cleaning or booster apps can turn off Notification Access. Check it again after using one.
  • After a system update, check that Notification Access is still on for Saksi.

The other app needs to run too

Saksi can only save a notification after the other app posts it. If a battery saver limits that app, for example a social media or email app, its notifications can arrive late or not at all, and Saksi has nothing to save.

If one app's notifications are late or missing on your phone, check the battery setting for that app as well, using the same steps. See Social media and email notifications.

Some phones still limit background apps

Even with Unrestricted battery use, some phones close background apps. If capture stops again, follow Saksi stopped saving.
